The Community View: Saints beat the Leopards

On Friday 20th February 2026 we hosted Leigh Leopards in our home opener at the BrewDog Stadium. See what the SCDF got up to during the gameday!

SCDF Point of View

Outside the Stadium

We began the evening outside the West Stand at the BrewDog Stadium, underneath the Keiron Cunningham. Our Fanzone was setup, with fans encouraged to come and get involved with some pre-game activities prior to kick off.

Our Saints Angels team hosted another pre-game quiz too for fans around the ground, this time they had to guess some 90’s related songs.

Boots also made an appearance outside the ground, meeting fans ahead of our home league season opener at the BrewDog Stadium.

Inside the Stadium

Due to the weather conditions worsening, our Fanzone was moved inside the ground one hour before kick off. It was situated in the South Stand concourse, with fans inside the ground able to come and get involved with activities such as the Passing Wall, amongst other things.

Behind the Red Vee also took place, with fans getting a behind the scenes matchday experience prior to kick off at the BrewDog Stadium.

Boots had a special guest return him for his lap around the ground, as former mascot St Bernard made his return alongside our current mascot to meet fans ahead of kick off.

All of the Saints Angels teamed then performed a routine in the middle of the pitch prior to warmups.

Our A Star Saints Angels then performed their routine facing the West Stand in the middle of the pitch, as the teams went through their warmups.

Following the warmups, children from our local community clubs then brought the club flags onto the pitch to wave pre-game.

The Angels also welcomed the two teams to the pitch, as the game got underway!

During Half-time

During the break, our Community Clubs got involved with the mini games of rugby around the pitch at the stadium.

We also had girls from our Cheer & Dance half-term camps join in with the A Star Saints Angels, who performed their half-time routine.

Match Report

Leigh went ahead early on courtesy of a Josh Charnley try in the corner. Daryl Clark levelled the scores, pinching one from dummy half, with Jackson Hastings’ conversion giving Saints the lead, 6-4. He added another two points with the boot shortly after with a penalty to make it 8-4. Innes Senior and Bailey Hodgson added two more tries, with Adam Cook adding two conversions to make it 8-16. A late try in the half from Kyle Feldt made it 12-16 at the break though.

The visitors extended their lead early on in the second half, with Cook adding another two points. Joe Shorrocks then got Saints within two points, scoring under the posts. Hastings’ conversion levelled the scores at 18-18. Hastings added another penalty around the hour mark, which would prove to be the final points of a tight contest at the BrewDog Stadium, 20-18 Saints won to claim our first league points of the 2026 season.
