Katie Mottershead becomes Women’s & Girls Ambassador

The Saints Community Development Foundation are delight to announce that Saints Women’s Star Katie Mottershead is our new Women’s and Girls Ambassador!

Katie started out at Halton Hornets before joining Thatto Heath Crusaders, who she joined the Saints from. Most recently, Katie played in the Saints win at Wembley, a ground-breaking moment for Women’s Rugby League as the Saints become the first Women’s team to win at Wembley. After a successful season, Katie was called up to the Senior England National Performance Squad following what was a break out season for Katie.

Having worked with the Foundation since 2022, Katie has developed as a coach over the past 2 years, going from strength to strength both as a player and a coach within the Community.

Through our Rugbees delivery last year, Katie’s involvement with Community Rugby League grew, seeing Katie become a role model for so many young Girls who are aspiring to be a Rugby League player, making her the perfect fit for her new role!

On the announcement, Foundation director Steve Leonard said:

“It is with great pleasure to announce Katie Mottershead as our Women’s and Girls Rugby League Ambassador for the Foundation. I have seen Katie progress through the ranks from her junior days through to her new status as a regular Saints first team player and into the full England set up.”

“It is her self drive, motivation and dedication which makes her such a role model for others. I believe she is the right person to work alongside Head of Women’s Pathways & Performance Jodie Cunningham to give the best Rugby League Saints experience we can offer!”

“This is a great appointment for Rugby League in our Community, and I hope you are as excited as we are to have Katie in this role. I, alongside the rest of the Foundation would like to wish Katie, and her fellow teammates all the best for the coming season and in the new role Katie is taking with us.”

About her new role, Katie added:

“I am excited to get involved with the development of Girls Rugby League within the community and provide opportunities for more girls to enjoy this amazing sport!”

Everyone at the Saints Community Development Foundation would like to congratulate Katie on her new role!
