SCDF to host LDRL Festival!

The Saints Community Development Foundation (SCDF) is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our own LDRL Festival!

As our Learning Disability Rugby League continues to grow from strength to strength, being the biggest LDRL side in the country, the SCDF will be holding our first LDRL Festival on Sunday 6th August.

The festival will be taking place at Thatto Heath Crusaders Rugby League Club, where our LDRL side trains every week. Thatto Heath has continued to support our LDRL team and has created a home for the side to train and prepare for their games and tournaments over the past years.

The festival will see three teams from the Saints take part, along with three teams from the Warrington Wolves. Wigan Warriors, Widnes Vikings, and the Leigh Leopards will also be entering two teams each, taking the total to 12 teams taking part in the festival!

SCDF Director Steve Leonard commented, saying: “We at the Saints Community Development Foundation are proud to have the biggest LDRL team in the country, allowing a platform and space for everyone to play Rugby League! We continue to work with our LDRL side, building and developing the opportunities we can provide for the team, so hosting our first festival is something we are excited about.”

“I look forward to seeing plenty of smiles on faces and seeing so many people getting involved in the game they love, in what will be a great day for all involved!”

LDRL Programmes Manager Barry Diggles commented on the announcement saying: “It is really exciting for all those involved with the team to be able to have a home festival! All the players and coaches are really looking forward to putting on the Red V for another time this season, this time at Thatto Heath.”

“I would like to thank Thatto Heath and the Saints LDRL parents and carers for the help in putting this event on, along with the support we continue to get from the Saints Community Development Foundation in their support with the team!”

“Finally, everyone who is a part of our LDRL team would like to send our best wishes to Kev Thompson, who is currently in hospital. Kev has been a member of staff with the side since it’s induction, and worked to get the festival on at Thatto. Keep fighting Kev, we all look forward to seeing you soon!”
