Commentary for the Blind
Our Commentary for the Blind is a programme to ensure all attending fans can enjoy the game!
Commentary for the Blind is an opportunity for any attending fans who may suffer with their vision to have audio commentary with them in the stand, and hear live commentary from our team in the stand.
Spectators can meet our team before kick-off, collect their audio device and enter the stadium, set for the game with their commentary ready to go.
We would like to once again say thank you to Paul Marsh of Bespoke Funding Solutions for providing the equipment and for helping the SCDF to make such a difference within our Community.
Meet the team behind the ‘Commentary for the Blind’, and find out all about them!

Favourite Memory of the Saints?: “The 1996 Challenge Cup Final, the Steve Prescott MBE try for the Saints and the Bobby Goulding bombs that destroyed Bradford!”
What are you looking forward to most this season? “Commentating using brand new equipment to customers new and old, putting a smile on their faces & seeing Saints with real pace in Sailor, Feldt and Murphy, a name synonymous with a Saints great!”
Favourite part of being apart of the Commentary for the Blind team? “Knowing that people keep turning up to listen and hearing how their team are going on. Painting a picture in their mind of live action.”
Steve Manning
Favourite Memory of the Saints?: “Having been a keen Saints supporter since the early 1970’s, fortunately there have been a lot of stand out moments! After Wembley success in 1976, it was 20 years until we won there again. That match, known as the ultimate comeback, against Bradford was a particular favourite, after all the defeats that went before!
“Of course we’ve been spoiled over more recent years, with so much success and silverware. However, I’m conscious that it’s never a given to win, and we should all enjoy the success when it comes! COYS!”
What are you looking forward to most this season? “I like to see speed! We’ve had some great wingers over the years, and I’d love to See Lewis Murphy have a standout season. I’m also looking forward to see how Lee Briers will shape our attack, around our exciting crop of young backs. With Robertson and Whitby in particular, coming through, in tandem with the maverick Tristan Sailor! If everything clicks, we surely will be in for some great entertainment!”
Favourite part of being apart of the Commentary for the Blind team? “Firstly I really enjoy doing it! It’s a real pleasure to be able to describe to people, who struggle to see the action, a vivid picture of what is happening on the field.
“As a Team, we try to make it more personal, by naming and referencing the listeners, and also try to add in a little humour where we can! We don’t take ourselves too seriously and are always delighted with the great feedback that we get about the service.“
Simon Harvey
Favourite Memory of the Saints?: “Saints winning the World Club Challenge in Australia“
What are you looking forward to most this season? “Some entertaining Rugby League, and continuing the rivalry between Saints and Wigan”
Favourite part of being apart of the Commentary for the Blind team? “Giving a balanced commentary to our listeners and getting just as excited as fans when we score a try!”
Vicky Tolozo
Favourite Memory of the Saints?: “Going to Saints games with my Dad when I was a little girl“
What are you looking forward to most this season? “I enjoy seeing the younger lads play and watching them grow in confidence as the season goes on.”
Favourite part of being apart of the Commentary for the Blind team? “I love to be part of the Community and offer a great service to people who need it!”
