SCDF launch brand new home playing shirt

The Saints Community Development Foundation are delighted to announce the launch of our new playing shirt!

The kits will be worn by our LDRL and Wheelchair sides, as well as the newly formed St Helens Academy side.

Please be aware that the new shirt will not be available to purchase anywhere and is solely to be used for the teams under the SCDF umbrella.

Fans will be able to see the shirts in person during our home game against Huddersfield Giants later on today, with them being available to see in our Fanzone and there will also be a walk around the pitch at half time to show them off.

The Saints Community Development Foundation would like to say a massive thank you to O’Neills for supporting this project and allowing us to create the new shirts for sides that fall under our SCDF umbrella. We look forward to continuing our great partnership with them into the future!

Foundation Director Steve Leonard said: “It is with great pleasure that we launch our very own Foundation playing shirt. It’s been a long time coming and long deliberation, but finally it’s here ready to go for our teams to play in.

“I hope you agree that the tradition of the Red V has been upheld alongside some poetic license to enhance the Foundation and its values.

“The challenge was to create something which captures the pride and enthusiasm that runs throughout the Foundation, its programmes and projects we deliver. Something that embraces our expansion and the growth within the Community.

“It was time to stand out and take the next step. Steps we have taken quite comfortably due to the backing and assistance we have had from all our major partners.

“Our LDRL team is one of (if not the) biggest in the Community Integrated Care set up. Our WRL squad is growing and the need for our first friendly is very much apparent. The team has evolved, and it is fantastic to see such enthusiasm to share knowledge amongst the experienced and not so experienced players. Our volunteer base within the setup is really strong and it will be wonderful to see the first Foundation kit worn in our first WRL game after our re launch.

“In September our partnership with St Helens College will see the College RL team come under the Foundation banner with the coaching coming from very experienced coaches from within the Foundation. This will provide a much-needed pathway for everyone to go along as far as their talent, dedication and commitment will allow.

“All of the above can now go out in a kit that is befitting of the amount of effort and dedication they show to the Foundation and our own community.

“I wish all the players well who wear the shirt of the Foundation and embrace the power of unity that our teams will generate in the years to come.”

Wheelchair Rugby League host Barry Diggles added: “The team has been coming together and training hard over the past six months and now we have a really amazing Wheelchair kit thanks to the Foundation. We can’t wait to get out and proudly wear the kit at our first game!”

LDRL Coach Gareth Foster: “It’s a phenomenal experience for our LDRL players to get this opportunity to do a kit launch and it shows how far we’ve come as a team and programme. I’d like to thank everyone at the Foundation and Club for always backing us. We’ve seen a steady progression and growth year on year and this bodes well for the long term success of our team.”
