St Helens Women visit Wheelchair Rugby League

On Wednesday 26th November, players from the St Helens Women’s side joined our regulars for Wheelchair Rugby League!

The players came along to the session and had their first experience of a Wheelchair Rugby League session with the Saints Community Development Foundation.

Captain Jodie Cunningham was joined by Channy Crowl, Dani McGifford, Erin Mcdonald, Katie Mottershead and Rebecca Rotheram at the session.

We began with a range a fun activities before we transitioned into a game, with the two teams mixed at first before we switched into a Wheelchair Rugby League vs Women’s fixture.

At the end, we had some races. The women’s side had a race between themselves with Dani McGifford coming out on top. Then we had a race between the Wheelchair players, which was won by Jason Molloy. The two winners then went head to head, with Jason coming up on top and taking home the win for the Wheelchair players.

Everyone then came together for a group picture to close out the hour session packed full of action at Sutton Leisure Centre.

You can come along and get involved with Wheelchair Rugby League. Sessions run from 8pm to 9pm every Wednesday evening at Sutton Leisure Centre. There is no cost involved, just turn up and get involved with the rest of the team!
