The Community View: Derby Day Delight
On Friday 3rd April 2026, we hosted the Derby against Wigan Warriors at the BrewDog Stadium!
SCDF Point of View
Outside the Stadium
Our afternoon began with the SCDF Fanzone being setup outside the Keiron Cunningham Statue for fans to come and get involved with some pre-game activities prior to kick off, with the chance to win some great prizes including a signed Saints shirt, with our first winner getting it with the second throw of the day.
The A Star Saints Angels also headed out to the Fanzone to engage with the activities and also to do some face panting for fans wanting a Red V on their face as they headed into the sold out BrewDog Stadium.
Boots also paid a visit to the Fanzone to come and meet fans and take some pictures.
Inside the Stadium
When we headed inside the stadium, our Behind the RedVee guests were already well underway with their pre-game tour around the ground.
Boots then began his lap of the ground to meet fans ahead of kick off.
Our Cheer & Dance teams then performed a mass dance routine in the middle of the pitch facing the West Stand in the pouring rain.
Community Clubs then helped bring the flags onto the pitch prior to kick off, as falgs were also waved around the perimeter of the pitch prior to kick off.
Boots then collected the match ball from the Royal Marines prior to kick off, to give to referee, Jack Smith.

As both the teams headed onto the pitch, the A Star Saints Angels lined up to welcome them through a tunnel.
During Half-time
Community Clubs got involved with half-time games around the pitch during the break.
Our A Star Angels then performed during the break before welcoming the two sides back onto the pitch for the second half.
Match Report
Harry Smith gave Wigan an early lead but Saints replied with Matt Whitley throwing a dummy to score in the corner. Jack Farrimond and Daryl Clark then traded scores, as Wigan led 10-12 at the break.
Jai Field and Zach Eckersley scores gave Wigan a 10-24 lead with 15 minutes to go but a remarkable last ten minutes saw tries from Jackson Hastings, Tristan Sailor and a brace from debutant Bill Leyland, to give the hosts a 34-24 victory over the Warriors on Derby Day.
