The Community View: Saints host the Devils
On Sunday 29th June, Saints hosted Salford Red Devils in Round 16 of the Betfred Super League at the Totally Wicked Stadium!
Have a read and see what the Saints Community Development Foundation got up to throughout the gameday down below!
On Sunday, we marked Armed Forces Day at the Totally Wicked Stadium, and we marked the day by showing our support for those who have served our country. Our Veterans of the Foundation also played their part in being involved in the day.
OUTSIDE THE STADIUM
From 12pm we had a range of activities going on in our SCDF Fan zone. Fans turned up early as the Academy were in action from 12:30pm inside the ground.

As well as our normal activities which include the types of the passing wall, we also had a new golf game going on, as fans were challenged with getting a hole in one.
Our A Star Saints Angels came out to join us outside the South Stand. They helped paint the faces of fans with face paint for them to head into the ground with.

We then headed into the ground to get prepared for the events going on within the stadium.
PRE GAME
Boots was back for this one and did his usual walk around the Totally Wicked Stadium prior to the first team game getting underway at 3pm.
Our Saints Angels teams then performed a mass dance around the perimeter of the pitch, in front of the South, West and North stands.
The teams then headed out for their warmups before our A Star Saints Angels performed their routine in the middle of the pitch, facing the West Stand.

We then had a big build up to the game right before kick off. Our Community Clubs brought the club flag onto the pitch with other staff waving the flags in front of the North and West Stands, whilst our Saints Angels lined up outside the tunnel ready to welcome the players.
There was a Guard of Honour formed, with Military Standard Bearers and Drummers welcomed onto the pitch. The Royal Marines then abseiled down from the South Stand roof at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with other Marines delivering the match ball to referee Aaron Moore.

The game then got underway at the Totally Wicked Stadium…
HALF TIME
During the half time break our Community Clubs took centre stage in front of the North Stand. We had four games going on across the pitch, with both boys and girls competing.

We also had members of the Armed Forces, which included members of our Veterans of the Foundation, go a lap around the perimeter of the pitch, as both sets of fans got to applaud everyone who has served our country.

The A Star Saints Angels also made their way back out onto the pitch to perform once again.
THE GAME
Saints started the game well. An early Kyle Feldt try was followed by Owen Dagnall scoring in the corner. Kyle Feldt and Morgan Knowles’ tries, with two of the four converted by Captain Jonny Lomax giving the Red V a 20-0 lead at the break.

Second half tries from Daryl Clark, a second from Dagnall, a brace from Tristan Sailor and Jake Burns and a third try for Feldt, along with five more conversions from Lomax sealed a 58-0 victory for Paul Wellens’ side.
