The Community View: Saints take down the Giants

On Sunday 17th August, Saints hosted Huddersfield Giants in Round 22 of the Betfred Super League at the Totally Wicked Stadium!

Have a read and see what the Saints Community Development Foundation got up to throughout the gameday down below!

Prior to the game, we announced the launch of our brand new playing shirt that will be worn by our teams in the future. You can read all about that online here.

For Round 22 we celebrated Inclusion Round at the Totally Wicked Stadium, with lots of Inclusive sides in action around the day at the ground.

OUTSIDE THE STADIUM

Prior to the game we had a host of events going on around the ground. After our big announcement on Sunday morning, we had the Wheelchairs set up outside the South Stand for fans to come along and test their Wheelchair Rugby League skills out.

Boots also came out to meet the fans in and around the Fanzone prior to the game.

We also had the rest of our Fanzone setup for fans to come and get involved with. It included the likes of retro shirts available to purchase, the Passing Wall, Face Painting and a lot more.

With the Saints Community Development Foundation being the main match sponsors for the game as well, we had a table in the PSD 1873 Lounge.

PRE GAME

We then headed into the ground to begin the pre game entertainment. Our Cheer & Dance teams performed their routines in front of the North Stand at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

Boots then began a lap around the perimeter of the pitch, meeting fans prior to kick off.

The A Star Saints Angels then performed their pre game routine facing the West Stand ahead of the game.

Our SCDF staff then waved flags in front of the stands on the pitch around the ground, with on LDRL side bringing out the flags of both teams onto the pitch.

Prior to the game getting underway, we had a guard of honour for the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day, which marked the end of World War 2. This included Veterans of the Foundation from a variety of different regiments, with the Cheer & Dance girls also part of it with some of the Inclusive Cheer girls alongside them.

The two teams then headed out to the pitch before we held a minute’s silence and a tribute, and then the game got underway.
