The Community View: Tigers back in Town

On Friday 19th September, Saints hosted Castleford Tigers in our regular season finale at the Totally Wicked Stadium!

OUTSIDE THE STADIUM

The SCDF Fanzone was again open for fans to come and get involved with prior to kick off at the Totally Wicked Stadium. The likes of Darts, Passing Wall and more were available for fans to come and compete in to try and win some prizes.

Face Painting was also available for those wanting to head into the ground with Red V’s on them. Boots also headed outside the show his face for the fans who had came along early to get involved.

PRE GAME

As we headed inside the stadium, we had a mass dance with members from all of our Cheer & Dance teams getting involved in the middle of the pitch.

Boots began his tour around the perimeter of the pitch, as he met fans going around the Totally Wicked Stadium prior to the game.

The A Star Saints Angels then performed in the middle of the pitch, before they welcomed the players out to the pitch and headed behind the sticks in front of the West Stand.

HALF TIME

During the half time break, we had games going on all around the pitch at the Totally Wicked Stadium. Community Clubs from all around the borough came and get involved during our final home game of the 2025 campaign.

The A Star Saints Angels then performed their routine just before the second half got underway at the Totally Wicked Stadium.

THE GAME

Saints opened the scoring five minutes in, as the returning Noah Stephens powered his way over from close range, Kyle Feldt adding the conversion. Castleford quickly responded, as quick movement through the hands saw Will Tate score in the corner, Tex Hoy couldn’t convert, 6-4 Saints led.

Tate went over again soon after by collecting a Sam Wood pass, Hoy adding the extras. Saints levelled just after the half-hour mark, as Feldt collected Jonny Lomax’s high kick to score. James Bell edged Saints ahead just before the break, with Feldt adding the extras, 16-10 the Red V led at half time.

It was déjà vu for the fourth Saints try, as Lomax again kicked high to Feldt who scored, he also added the conversion. Good hands down the left edge then saw Bennison score, he was unable to convert his own try, 26-10.

Three late Tigers tries from Wood, a third for Tate and Liam Horne made it a tense final five minutes at the Totally Wicked Stadium, but Saints held on to secure a 26-24 victory over Castleford.

NEXT UP

There are no more home games for the Red V in 2025, as a fifth placed finish in the league table means it’s away games only now until the end of the season.

Saints travel to West Yorkshire to face Leeds Rhinos in the Betfred Super League Eliminator at AMT Headingley on Saturday, with kick off set for 8pm.
