Tommy Martyn returns to the Qualitech Reminisce Cafe
We had a special guest join us for the Qualitech Reminisce Cafe on Wednesday at the Brewdog Stadium, Heritage #1042 Tommy Martyn!
Tommy joined hosts Barry Diggles and Gareth Foster for the Qualitech Reminisce Cafe, talking about his life at the club over the past three decades.
There were mentions of the 1997 Challenge Cup Final, as Martyn was named Lance Todd Trophy winner as Player of the Match in Saints’ 32-22 victory over Bradford Bulls scoring two tries in the game at Wembley.
Martyn also told the tale of how he played in Sean Long’s Testimonial at Knowsley Road on short notice, featuring for 68 minutes despite only initially agreeing to play for ten, with work the next morning.
He also talked about his spell at Leigh Centurions, now known as the Leopards, before returning to the club following his playing career ending.
