SCDF Director Steve Leonard’s Message to you!

As 2023 comes to an end, Director of the Foundation Steve Leonard would like to reflect on the 2023:

I would like to start by thanking everyone who has donated this year towards the foundation and our work in our community. The sponsors who are local businesses, understand what we are trying to achieve and are willing to share our vision. We could not achieve any of this without their continued support so thank you. Not all our donators are companies, we do get a lot of individuals who donate, be it with a Christmas donation or hours towards assisting a programme or an event we have run.

There is nothing more precious than our time so for you to donate such a precious gift to help someone else is a wonderful gesture. Not every person we help, or programme we run can be plastered all over the media and have a smiling photograph when their world is in turmoil. The best legacy for us in these circumstances is that the person themselves know we are there, and they are not going to be left alone to fend for themselves.

A big part of our strategy is collaboration. Surrounding ourselves with people who we can rely on to help us achieve the best outcome for any individual from our community. Likeminded groups who share the same vision. I believe this is becoming more evident around St Helens and I will certainly be pushing for more of the same in 2024.

Thanks, must also go to the Trustees of the foundation for supporting and guiding the Foundation. The Club for their continued support, our dedicated staff and volunteer group, and lastly but more importantly you the loyal fans who have taken our foundation into your hearts and for trusting us to make a difference in your community. This years Christmas appeal has been the best yet, even beating the Covid time appeal. You never cease to amaze me with your generosity, a generosity that has again seen numerous children and their families get a Christmas.

Have a great Christmas and New Year!

Take care, Steve Leonard
