Volunteer Week: Mike Woods

From the 3rd of June to 9th of June it is National Volunteer Week, and SCDF want to shine a light on some of the fantastic volunteers that are helping our community clubs thrive!

Our fourth Spotlight is on Mike Woods. Mike boasts multiple roles at Thatto Heath Crusaders. Club Head Coach, u15s Coach, Groundsman, Coaches Representative, Coach Development Manager, Committee Member are roles Mike helps out with. Our spotlights have been provided by a representative of our Thatto and here is what they have to say about Mike:

“In all of Mike’s endeavours, he consistently demonstrates his utmost dedication and commitment, always prioritising the betterment of the Club.

“As a long-standing member, both as a player and a volunteer, Mike has made significant contributions. He embodies the THC’s ethos of Trust, Honesty, and Commitment, serving as an exceptional Ambassador.”

“Mike is a dedicated and successful coach at our club. He has won the BARLA National Cup at both junior and senior levels. As our Club Head Coach, he leads and supports our 90 coaches, he is their beating heart. He represents them on the governing Club Committee and is responsible for promoting Coach Education.

“Mike skilfully balances his business with grounds maintenance. He also contributes to setting up training schedules for our 26 teams. 13 of the juniors Mike currently coaches have signed Scholarship Forms with Saints or Wigan.

“Mike is a familiar and supportive presence at many Thatto Heath Crusaders teams, both male and female, beyond his own. He is widely recognised and respected within the club, everybody knows Mike!”

“Our pitches would likely be unfit for play. NCL Team and U15s would be losing a very influential coach.”
